About these terms

These Terms & Conditions apply to all services provided by Lorna Writes, a UK-based freelance copywriting and content strategy business.

By commissioning work from Lorna Writes, you agree to these terms unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Working relationship

Lorna Writes provides copywriting, content strategy and related services to the person or organisation named on the invoice (“the client”).

In some cases, services may be supplied via a third party such as a marketing, design or PR agency. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the contractual relationship remains between Lorna Writes and the instructing agency.

Scope of work and agreement

The scope, fees and timelines for each project are typically agreed via email, proposal or written brief. These written communications form the basis of the agreement between Lorna Writes and the client.

To avoid misunderstandings, any changes to scope, deadlines or fees should be confirmed in writing.

Fees and payment terms

Fees are agreed in advance and confirmed before work begins.

For one-off or project-based work, invoices are issued on completion of the agreed services.

For ongoing or retainer-based work, invoices are issued on a monthly basis, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Unless otherwise stated on the invoice:

  • Invoices are payable on receipt
  • Payment is due by bank transfer

Late payments may result in work being paused until payment is received.

Client responsibilities

Clients agree to:

  • Provide accurate, complete and timely information required to deliver the agreed services
  • Review and provide feedback within reasonable timeframes
  • Respond to queries that may affect delivery schedules

Delays in providing information or feedback may impact agreed timelines.

Standard of service

Lorna Writes will carry out all services with reasonable skill, care and professional diligence.

While every effort is made to deliver high-quality work, Lorna Writes cannot guarantee specific commercial outcomes, such as increased sales, rankings or engagement, unless expressly agreed in writing.

Revisions

Unless otherwise agreed, fees include a reasonable number of revisions aligned with the original brief.

Significant changes to scope, direction or objectives may require additional fees, which will be agreed in advance.

Limitation of liability

If Lorna Writes is found to be liable for any loss or damage arising from the services provided, that liability shall be limited to the total fees paid for the relevant services.

Lorna Writes shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect or consequential losses
  • Loss of profit, revenue or business opportunity
  • Issues arising from client-supplied information or third-party platforms

Nothing in these terms limits liability where it cannot be excluded under UK law.

Termination

Either party may terminate an ongoing arrangement by giving written notice.

Unless otherwise agreed:

  • Retainer or recurring services require one month’s notice
  • One-off or ad hoc projects may be terminated with reasonable notice, subject to payment for work completed up to that point

All outstanding invoices must be settled upon termination.

Intellectual property

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, ownership of final, paid-for copy transfers to the client once full payment has been received.

Lorna Writes retains the right to reference completed work in portfolios, case studies or marketing materials, unless a confidentiality or NDA agreement is in place.

Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Updates to these terms

These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this website.
